Exposing The Thin Line Between Discernment and Data in The Digital Age for Purpose-Driven Leaders
It is 2025, and if you are not using artificial intelligence (AI), you are already behind. AI tools have woven themselves in our lives to simplify tasks, save time, and even replace human jobs. We now live in a world where it is easy to say, ‘Just ask AI to do it.’ This could be everything from drafting a paper in a person’s tone and voice, attending a virtual meeting as an AI bot, developing business plans and schedules, coding programs, you name it.
As an entrepreneur with multiple ventures, I have found myself turning to AI for everything. From planning and writing to problem solving and strategic brainstorming. It has been an invaluable tool in my toolbox. All of this to a busy entrepreneur swinging multiple bats to hit multiple balls out of the park daily sounds like a great idea, right? The difference that separates me (and a number of you reading this) from other entrepreneurs and business owners is that we are first driven by faith and discernment.
A Model of Spirit-Led Leadership
One of the greatest pioneers of the Bible days was Moses. God called him to do the impossible and the unthinkable. Moses had no strategic plan, little courage, and questioned his ability. Yet, God tasked him with leading an enslaved nation to freedom. He had only one source of guidance, protection, and provision: God.
As purpose-driven leaders, we must see ourselves in the reflection of this narrative. We believe that God has called us to specific works in the earth, and we must understand that He is the ultimate provider of guidance, protection, and resources.
I am not arguing that we should stop using AI, at all. What I am promoting is that we should take inventory of our daily purpose-driven work and ask ourselves if we have allowed other people or things to drive it forward.
Tips For Staying Purpose-Driven While Using AI:
Begin every day with God and gratitude. Ground your work with spiritual clarity.
Pray through decisions. Do not skip discernment in the moments that matter.
Acknowledge your faith in your work. Whether publicly or in private practice, let God be a part of your work.
Check your reliance. Regularly evaluate if AI is serving your calling or replacing your discernment.
So, What Does This Mean?
I will admit this: by the time you are reading this, I will have run this post through AI to check for grammatical errors, sentence structure, and logic. That is inevitable! However, as a faith-driven entrepreneur and leader, I believe the Spirit led me to write this post. This, I believe, is allowing God’s message to be spoken even through AI, just as He speaks through any tool.
I have journeyed with God in my life long enough to have discernment and conviction of when I am consulting anyone, or anything (in the terms of AI), as to where I should be consulting God. As a man of faith, I know that God is my ultimate resource, and that He knows both the future and end of all of my businesses and my life, above and far beyond what AI can predict based on statistical data.
The key is knowing the difference between when we are seeking support and when we are seeking direction. For that, no algorithm can replace the voice of God.
